Language of Landscape on mini50

As the year ends, I am quite excited about the latest addition to the mini50 roster.  Language of Landscape are a duo hailing from Calgary, Canada.  At the end of 2009 they released 3 tracks, all on individual cd-rs and they made only 5 physical copies of these cd-rs.  It was entitled ‘memories fade under a shallow autumn snow’ and it is one of the most beautiful short collections of ambience that I have heard in a long time.

Having fallen in love with their music I plucked up the courage to approach them about the possibility of working with mini50 in 2011 and beyond.  I’m delighted that both Cory and Chris are up for this.  Having been on a hiatus for most of 2010, focusing on their own solo material, the guys have recently performed live together again and we have agreed to work together in the future.  I am delighted.  Not only is Language of Landscape’s music stunning but as solo artists they are equally impressive and we are currently talking about putting out their solo stuff as well and making mini50 their home.

There are no firm plans for a physical release as yet.  More than likely a digital release will happen first or a digital release with a very limited run of cds to go with it, to begin with anyway.  We shall see.  I am well aware of how I need to build this label.  I have no intention of rushing in and spending loads of money that I don’t have on people.  Fortunately, both Chris and Cory are all about the music and hopefully in 2011 they will release something special.  I have no doubt about that.  So please, keep an eye out here and at the mini50 website for more information as and when it arrives.  In the meantime, you can find ‘memories fade under a shallow autumn snow’ here. Enjoy
